Shabby Chic Decorating Tips


I have been into decorating long enough to see styles come and go and designing long enough to know good design is never out of style. Today I thought I would share seven decorating trends you will never find in my own shabby chic home.

1. Naked light bulbs ( I do not like looking at naked light bulbs, I don't care for their design in general)

2. The same patterned fabrics repeated in every room in the house.

3. All of the furniture matching.(Blended yes, matching ,no.)

4. Any rooms without some form of natural light.

5. Burlap anything.

6. Raw, raveled, fabric edges as a design element.

7. Rustic wood pieces. (can't be kept clean enough and they can't be touched)
